PRIMAL SCREAM – COME AHEAD
The man in the picture is Bobby Gillespie's father, Robert Gillespie Sr., late. For the first time Gillespie came up with the lyrics, which he then set to music, armed with an acoustic guitar. For him, this new way of working felt like he was working on an album for the first time. The term 'Come Ahead', from which the album takes its title, is a Glasgow term, and means something like 'Come on!' if someone were to attack you. And, although written on an acoustic guitar, that aggressive attitude is audible on 'Come Ahead'.
