Daryll-Ann - Spring

Miracles still happen, it turns out, because Daryll-Ann is returning to earth. In the original line-up, no less. The indie band made a splash for over fifteen years from 1988 with a series of rock-solid records that conquered a place in the Dutch alternative pop canon. In the spring of 2004, the band decided to stop rather abruptly, but now, twenty years later, a new spring has dawned with comeback album Spring .

Listening to Spring it immediately becomes clear why Daryll-Ann got back together, because the chemistry drips off the songs in globs. From the melancholic, spacey Everything I Knew to the pleasantly abrasive A Note About Time ; nothing suggests that this is the first new work in twenty years. Seemingly effortlessly, Jelle Paulusma, Anne Soldaat and the rest of the band maneuver through subdued folk, rattling garage rock and dreamy alt-country, with a synergy that made Daryll-Ann one of the country's most beloved indie bands in the 90s.

The future of Dutch pop suddenly looks a lot brighter with new work from Daryll-Ann.
